Our tour begins at the Brandenburg gate, the world-famous Berlin Landmark, and leads us over the Pariser Platz, one of the most elegant addresses in town, with highlights such as the Hotel Adlon, the Akademie der Künste or the French embassy. Further, our path takes us over the oldest boulevard in Berlin, the 300 year old “Unter den Linden” with the campus of the Humboldt-Universität and further architectural masterpieces such as Schinkel’s “Neue Wache” and the “Alte Museum” on the museum island. We shall also see Knobelsdorff’s “Staatsoper,”the Crown Prince’s palace, as well as the “St.-Hedwigs-Kathedrale,” Berlin’s largest Catholic Church. During the reconstruction of the former GDR, the “Palace of the Republic” (home to the GDR people’s parliament” was built, and we shall be able to experience its spectacular demolition. Past the Schlossplatz and the “Marx-Engels-Forum,” we reach the Alexanderplatz and the Berlin television tower, which with a height of 368 m is the tallest construction in Berlin.
